Companies House Identity Verification
PowerStone Accountants is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), meaning we can verify an individual’s identity for the purpose of getting them verified at Companies House.
Identity verification is a statutory requirement under Companies House rules. It is designed to reduce fraud, increase transparency, and ensure that individuals listed on the UK companies register are real and accountable.

Persons with Significant Control (PSCs)
Individuals making new appointments or updating existing Companies House records
What we do
As an ACSP, we complete identity verification in line with Companies House requirements. This includes:
- Reviewing approved photo identity documents
- Confirming identity through an in-person or live video check
- Carrying out electronic identity verification where appropriate
- Retaining verification records securely as required by law
Once verification is completed, Companies House issues the individual’s Unique Identifier (UID) when the relevant filing is submitted or updated. PowerStone Accountants does not issue or allocate UID numbers.
What you’ll need
- A valid passport, UK photocard driving licence or a Citizen's Card
- An acceptable proof of address e.g. Bank Statement, Utility Bill
- Availability for a short live verification (in person or video)
What we cannot do
- Verify identity without acceptable photo ID
- Verify individuals who cannot directly participate in the verification process
- Complete verification on an informal or undocumented basis
- Issue Companies House Unique Identifiers
Fees
Verification Service: £75 + VAT
Fees are payable in advance. Verification work does not begin until payment has been received.

No. Companies House requires valid photo identification. You will need to obtain replacement documents or use Companies House’s own verification route.
